Mei is quite good at first aid. Seeing as her mother worked as a Pokémon Center nurse, she was able to learn about basic things that are constant for both Pokémon and humans (sewing stitches, bandaging wounds, etc.). That kind of knowledge came in handy when she and Hugh were younger -- any kind of bruises or scrapes they got while exploring had to be hidden from their parents to avoid a stern talking-to.
Her birthday is April 6th, making her an Aries. They are natural leaders filled with energy, enthusiasm, and some unfortunate impulsiveness that can get them into trouble.
Translated to real life time, her journey probably lasted about a year and a half (she was 14 when she left home).
She has a bit of an inferiority complex due to many people that she met on her journey comparing her to "the hero from two years ago". As a result, her driving force after becoming the League champion is to find Touko and beat her in a battle.
Her buns hairstyle takes inspiration from the Pokémon-universe version of Sailor Moon. She was super into magical girl shows (especially ones that came from Kanto / Johto / Hoenn / Sinnoh) when she was younger, and still secretly likes watching them.
She's an avid journal-keeper (a reflection of saving the game by writing in a journal), which is riddled with teenage girl crushes on Gym Leaders and day-to-day notes about her journey.
She's a bit on the short side for her age - around 5'2" (157 cm).
